Navigating Fruugo’s Anti-Counterfeit Policies

Fruugo is a UK based website which offers global sellers a platform to offer goods from. However what happens when you realise that one of the listings on the site is a direct replica of your product or listing? We're here to guide you through Fruugo's counterfeit take down process.

The reporting process has recently changed within Fruugo.co.uk. It has moved from an email to an online form. This online form can be found at: https://www.fruugo.co.uk/help/reports

Step-by-Step Guide to Reporting Counterfeit Listings on Fruugo

1. Find the removals page at: https://www.fruugo.co.uk/help/reports

2. You will first be asked 'What are you reporting?' In this box you will need to enter the URL of the listing that is infringing on your IP (this might be a copy of your original image or a copy of your patented product.) Then click 'Add Listing' and the listing in question will appear.

3. You are then faced with the drop down menu that states, 'select at least one country'. This refers to the country you wish to remove from. Your IP will dictate this as if you are enforcing a trademark or patent against a listing, you will only be able to ask for the listing to be removed in the countries which you have paid to hold that trademark/patent. However, if you are enforcing copyright and your original image and text has been copied you are not restricted to the same boarders. So here you can click on 'All Countries'.

4. You are next presented with the Intellectual Property Type. Here you click on the the IP you have to remove the listing/listings in question. You will need to enter the owner of the Intellectual Properties name and a link to the original document or website. This could be a link to a Patent or Registered Design or a link to a website such as Etsy to show your original images. It will also ask for a registration number. You can still remove without registered copyright so just enter N/A here if you haven't got paid IP protection.

5. The final box to fill out on this page is: 'What is the legal basis of this complaint?'. This is a paragraph to explain how you believe that the listing has infringed on your IP.

6. Your information is next. You will need to enter your name, email and phone number.

7. Finally you are required to make a declaration that the information you have submitted is correct.

And you're done. Congratulations, you have now submitted your removal request to Fruugo.co.uk
